inktank design is a small… very small… ok, a one person studio that craves the challenges that working with a start-up, established company or non-profit organization present. Projects large, small and pro-bono are treated with equal care and attention to detail because I choose every project and love the craft.

Operating a one-man-show keeps my overhead low while providing maximum maneuverability and personal attention. I often collaborate with or hire contractors as project needs dictate and pull from a talented pool of colleagues expert in their respective specialties. I try to keep the creative process as organic and fluid as possible; working with clients, inviting them to contribute in the process rather than simply working for them. My clients know they can come directly to me with any questions and concerns because I manage every aspect of a project.

For big businesses or agencies looking to augment their core staff, to take on short and long-term projects or consultation, inktank also acts as contract designer, in-house designer or your design firm of record.

I spent four years of formal training in design, visual communication and fine arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After working in advertising, educational book publishing, fan club merchandising and the gift and stationery products industry, I realized the best way to enjoy life and fill the creative void was to work for myself. So, since 2001, I have run inktank design in the San Francisco Bay Area. As of May 2007, I serve as the Communications Co-Chair for the San Francisco chapter of the AIGA, the professional association for design.

Other than devouring all types of design from Swiss typography to Italian furniture and American architecture, I am obsessed with food, cooking whatever happens to be in-season, motorcycling, photography, Thelonius Monk, film noir, the Bauhaus, traveling and generally being anywhere out of doors.
